Alice and E.Y. Murphey welcome you to our restored Italianate Victorian family home (circa 1860). We provide gracious services for our leisure or business guests. Come to where old world elegance and village simplicities are balanced with modern conveniences.
The grand parlor with fireplace, music room , kitchenette with homemade treats and beverages, library with VHS/DVD/CD collections are continual comforts. Historic murals and fine art are seen throughout our home. Also enjoy our garden areas and pond. Gentle faithful Gaelynne welcomes you and will keep the rabbits away.
Our home features four deluxe rooms. Each room has gas fireplace, private bathroom with heated tile floors, color cable TV/VCR/DVD, alarm radio CD player and wireless internet, so as to offer spacious and pleasant double occupancy. The Bowman Suite with whirlpool, as well as the deluxe room amenities, offers romantic possibilities with a King bed, quiet sitting room and balcony overlooking the garden.

    Lemon Poppy Seed Waffles


    Just like eating grandmom's lemon poppy seed cake for breakfast. these are a real treat when topped with lemon creme. Serve with either crispy bacon strips or canadian bacon and the Lemon Crème (see directions)

    *4 eggs separate
    *1/4 cup granulated sugar
    *1/4 cup packed brown sugar
    *1/2 cup vegetable oil
    *2 cups milk
    *1 tsp vanilla
    *1 tsp almond extract
    *1 tsp lemon extract
    *1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
    *1 1/3 cups whole wheat flour
    *2 1/2 tsp baking powder
    *3/4 tsp salt
    *zest from 1 lemon
    *1/4 cup poppy seeds
    *powdered sugar

    Whisk egg yolks with sugars until light.
    Blend in vegetable oil, milk, vanilla, almond and lemon extracts.
    Sift dry ingredients together and add, stirring until just blended. (DO NOT overmix.)
    Whisk egg whites until stiff, but not dry. Gently fold into batter.
    Bake in hot waffle iron according to manufacturer's directions.
    Plate and dust with powdered sugar.
    Top with Lemon Creme and a slice of fresh lemon.
    Serves 8 (depending upon size of waffle)
    Lemon Creme
    *1/2 cup heavy cream
    *1/3 cup lemon curd
    *1/2 tsp. almond extract

    Whip heavy cream until soft peaks form. Fold in lemon curd and almond extract. Serve over Poppy Seed Waffles.
